In a year when gas prices rose close to $4 a gallon, Wichita school board members have voted for the first time to reimburse themselves for miles driven within the district.
The school board voted 4-3 last month to allow members to be reimbursed for mileage while traveling in the district. Previously, they were reimbursed only for out-of-town expenses.
Board members said they don't know how much the policy change will cost.
